Born and brought up near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, Duncan has spent most of his life developing his unique musical voice. Duncan plays regularly with gaelic singing sensation Julie Fowlis, sets the heather on fire with his folk rock band Wolfstone and is much sought after as a composer and accompanist. Performed at an exclusive concert as part of the world famous Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Duncan recorded this special event where he played music from his acclaimed Strathglass Trilogy of albums, as part of a six piece traditional band who were backed by an orchestral ensemble. With such a personal interest in and connection to these Highland glens, Duncan has worked hard to instil great pride and passion into three individual but very much connected musical masterpieces. The Door of Saints closely followed Redpoint; a beautiful album inspired by the music of Northern Spain. Duncan then embarked on his Strathglass Trilogy, mixing traditional tunes with contemporary sounds. Enjoy the music. Enjoy the music….

Duncan Chisholm returns to the Empire Theatre to present music from his much-anticipated new album, Sandwood. Inspired by the bay, which rightfully lays claim to hold the finest yet least accessible beach in Scotland, Sandwood is situated within the far reaches of the north west coast of Sutherland. It is a natural masterpiece, a true paradise that sits within a basin of peatlands waiting to be discovered by those willing to trek wild. Two years of imagining, writing and production have resulted in Duncan capturing this wild place musically and making it the focus of his latest album of fiddle music. This concert will present Duncan's live interpretation of what is believed to be one of the earliest inhabited areas of what came to be known as Scotland. Sandwood, a wild place, and a place where people negotiate their existence with nature. A place of incredible light and colour that is subject to the eternal force of the Atlantic Ocean.
